  • 1.  Disaster recovery after a failed flashbackup restore

    Dear All;

    We have two controllers installed in master / standby configuration (Aruba 7210 controller-AOS 8.6) , while doing some configuartion on master we had to restore it.

    But the controller didn't start after the flashbackup restore, we have some old flashbackups and one of them did work and we got it back working but with a very old config.

    at the same time we have a copy of a recent running-config.

    Is there any way that we could boot the controller  with this running-config.

    we tried the command configuration node replace-config but we got the error this command may be executed on master only ; despite that this is the master controller , we even disabled vrrp and syncronisation but we still get the same error.

    We have now the backup controller running but with slight configuration differences. So the best thing that may help us, is to get the running config of the master controller loaded again.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Our support expired , and it's taking too long (internal procedures) to renew , I am ready to spend some time or read any documentation to complete this task.

    That is too bad. What you could do is either paste the known-good config a few times into the running controller till there are no errors (the rough way), or you can put the good config and the current running config in a text editor side-by-side and (if there is a compare function, use that) compare both to see the differences, then manually issue the commands to get them in sync.

    Ideally you would like to know why the flashbackup cannot be restored, but that may be something for when you have access to support again.

    If you don't already have a program that can compare files for you, download DiffMerge - it's perfect fort the job. 

    If lines don't match, it highlights them in red.
