  • 1.  Disconnected/shut port shows multiple input errors?!

    Posted Feb 21, 2020 06:41 PM

    Hi,

Anyone know the reason for this strange behavior?

This interface doesn't have anything connected to it. Also tried with administrative shut. Yet, the TX input errors and drops keep increasing.

    Interface 1/1/2 is down
     Admin state is up
     State information: Waiting for link
     Link transitions: 0
     Description:
     Hardware: Ethernet, MAC Address: 10:4f:58:xx:xx:xx
     MTU 1500
     Type 5G-SmartRate
     Full-duplex
     qos trust none
     Speed 0 Mb/s
     Auto-negotiation is on
     Flow-control: off
     Error-control: off
     MDI mode: none
     VLAN Mode: access
     Access VLAN: 1
     Rx
                 0 input packets 0 bytes
                 0 input error 0 dropped
                 0 CRC/FCS
     Tx
                 0 output packets 0 bytes
             13006 input error 13006 dropped
                 0 collision

To make it clear, I reset the counters and nothing is ever connected to it afterwards. But after some short seconds, the input errors and drop count start showing the errors.

This is a 6300M by the way.

    Regards

    Hello,

Hoping Aruba 6300 is loaded with latest image 10.04.0030 (Command: show version)?

    Thank you,

    Yash

It's apparently similar (but not equal) to CR 71114 "Counters" solved on ArubaOS-CX 10.04.0030:

Symptom/Scenario: Drop counters for Rx increase when running the show interface command.

OP is actually seeing increasing collisions/drops on Tx instead...and with interface administratively shutted down too!
