Jeffrey:
Hi! I assume you have the user guides for these products but, just in case you don't, here is a link to retrieve them:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/networking/wlan/11mbpsManuals.htmlIn the WL400 manual on pages 22-23 (24-25 of PDF file), follow the procedures under the heading 'Enable 64-bit or 128-bit Security Encryption'. When you actually enter the key for 64-bit encryption, it will be 40 bits (10 hexadecimal digits) in length (128-bit encrytion will be 104 bits (26 hex digits).
As far as I know, you should not have to change any settings under 'Access Control'. You may want to enter the MAC addresses of your wireless NIC(s) for added security, however I would not until it works without that.
The LAN name (SSID) of the WL400 (default is COMPAQ)must match that of the wireless NIC(s).
Don't forget that the actual settings of the Access Points will not be affected until the Commit to
Network function is executed in AP Manager.
All you should need to do in the WL100 is enable WEP, choose 64 or 128 bit WEP (must match AP), and either manually enter the key(s) if you entered them manually in the AP, or enter the identical passphrase that was used in the AP to generate a key. I suggest manually entering one identical key in both products until you have WEP working, then you can make changes, if you like.
Last, but not least, please check for firmware and driver updates at
http://h71025.www7.hp.com/support/swdrivers/index.aspI hope this helps! If not, come on back and we'll try some more.
