We use Facebook as an login option with our guest SSID. I've heard on the grape vine that Facebook will no longer be supporting mini browsers very soon (October 2022!). Is there any truth to this and is there an official deadline anywhere? I'm not seeing much in the way of announcements from Facebook with a hard deadline. If so, will this be across multiple vendors i.e. just iOS?

Check this discussion. Within there is a link to Facebook developers that mentions October 2021.

From what I read, this is a decision by Facebook and Google (as web platform, not necessarily as Android vendor), so not just an IOS thing.

    Thanks, Herman.

I understand there's been lots of discussions surrounding this subject - including the post from Facebook which you've shared. However, it states in that post that mini/embedded browsers were due to stop working October 2021 for Android. We did see this stop working, then suddenly start working again and has been working fine since then. This is quite confusing and we never really got to the bottom of why that happened. Our worry is that Facebook will abruptly do this again without us being able to warn our users. I know that mini/embedded browsers are due to be unsupported quite soon but without any kind of indication of when, it becomes quite difficult to plan for. Especially after Facebook made an announcement - yet mini/embedded browsers continue to work as expected, despite a deadline of October 2021 in the original post.
