  • 1.  Finding out CX Switch Firmware Image Allocation in Central

    Hi,

    I am trying to find out which firmware versions are installed on the CX switches via Central. Unfortunately, I cannot see which image (primary or secondary) is active in the GUI or via the API, nor which version is present in the other image. I can only see which version is currently being used.

    Tried the following API requests:

    https://{{baseurl}}/firmware/v1/devices?device_type=CX
    https://{{baseurl}}/firmware/v1/devices/{{serial}}
    https://{{baseurl}}/monitoring/v1/switches

    Always running firmware version is shown, but no glue about image location or other loaded firmware,

    Have I overlooked something?

    Parameters:

    - It is not about 10 switches, but almost 1000 switches, so please no suggestions in which "via CLI on each switch" occurs.

    - Since it is an MSP account, there is no CNX toggle

    Hi Uli,

    With the current version of Central this is not possible. However, with New Central this info is available via the API. I don't have all the details but I believe also for the UI this is planned.

    New Central / CNX toggle can be enabled on MSP (sub) accounts. Please check with your SE.

    You need to use the following API call to get this info: https://developer.arubanetworks.com/new-central/reference/getswitch

    But still we cannot see which partition is used, correct?

    Nevertheless, I contacted our Partner SE to get the toggle. In the meantime I have access to another tenant with activated CNX and test this out.

    Currently I see firmware and backupfirmware in the API response. The Firmware management for New Central is almost ready I've understand. Best is to contact your Partner SE so they can check with PLM about this specific request. In general, based on what I've seen, Central will automatic select the primary and backup partition. For example, if partition 2 is currently the active one and you start an update via Central, partition 1 will become the new active partition.

    Hi Willem,

    Thanks a lot! That should do it if Central takes care of choosing the right partition. So, using CNX in the near future eliminates the cause of my request although I would like to have kind of a possibility to choose the partition perhaps in the way AFC has it. Perhaps it's German mentality... ;)
