GBIC Module 5500 EL switch ((JD361B))

    There are no datasheet available for this module , I need to ask if I shall plug the LC fiber connector directly in the port of this module or I need to purchase SFP & plug in independantly .

     

    It's supposed to be GBIC ,direct connection, but it's name is XFP Module, which I think it needs me to purchase XFP & plug it to the port so I can plug the fiber cord. Am I right or wrong ? Please advice

    Hi,

     

    You can NOT plug LC connector directly to this port...

     

    JD361B is HP 5500 1-port 10GbE XFP Module, so on this module there is an empty port in which you need to put one of these XFP type of transceivers:

     

    JD108B HP X130 10G XFP LC LR Transceiver
    JD117B HP X130 10G XFP LC SR Transceiver
    JD121A HP X135 10G XFP LC ER Transceiver

    depending on type of fiber cable. On the other side of your connection you need the transceiver with the same technology (LR, SR or ER) to make 10Gb connection work.
