    Hello community,

I'm new to Aruba wireless solutions and looking for some guidance to desing a wireless solution for a Warehouse. Current Cisco solution is with outdoor 1310 APs with external antennas. Some omnidirectional sticks and some patch panels directional. They are mounted on the ceiling at 15m height.

I'm looking at the 318 and AP-ANT-40 antenas. There is a lot of dust in the place but covered. Temperature can reach 50° C. There is no rain or extreme moisture.

Do you think these APs can handle this environment?

We are planning to install 6 of them. Place is two sections of 100m by 80m.

Thank you for any input on this.

    Best regards

Personally I prefer to use outdoor APs in factories and 'harsh' warehouse environments. I also prefer to use integrated antenna APs where possible.

You haven't provided much info so ensure that you do your own research, but you might want to consider a mix of AP365 and AP367.

For the 318 question specifically, check the 'Environmental' section of the data sheet

Depending on shelving height, the AP-367s are ideal for this. See attached for a presentation on Aruba best practices and some sample warehouse modeling examples.

    Hi Jerrod,

This is very useful information. Thank you so much.

There are no shelfs as such, is an empty space were piles of cellulose sheets grow and then are retired. I've attached some pictures. We need coverage in the paths between the piles of course. But it is challenging because they are not always in the same place.

Any other recommendation or is the 367 recommendation still valid?

    Thank you

That ceiling looks way shorter than 15m/50ft.

I've been told 15m at highest point, maybe inside is 12m, not sure. Not been there yet.

    Hi,

Do you think signal from a 375 will reach de floor at that height? Looking at the radiation patterns we will need to include much more APs with the more directional ones.

    Thank you

It will work at that height yes, note that SNR on the ground will not be as strong as it would be with a 367/377. Depdnding on stack height, the viability of 365/375 may not be as good if the gap between the top of stack and AP height is small (not much use of wide coverage if the aisles are narrow and side throw is constricted.

    Hi vf556,

I've checked that before and 318s are rated IP55. Current ones are IP56 so I guess are more or less the same apart from the flow of direct water that they support. But I'll take your comment on using outdoors despite of being covered. It will be much easier.

    Thank you
