    Hi,

I've trying to get my head around configuring an aruba series 6100 switch for AAA authentication using a Radius Server.

I've got a simulation network working under GNS3, using an AAA appliance attached, that has some default users.

I've played with the AOS-CX Switch simulator and somehow managed to enable some sort of AAA authentication, as it locks me out of admin login (in fact all logins) when the AAA Radius server is connected, but I can't seem to make it connect using the default users specified. I tried adding users of the same name, with their own passwords, which work when the AAA node is not connected, but they too don't allow login when it is!

The whole configuration seems all very complicated and I don't really understand the steps involved in getting this all to work, I am quite new to all this sort of thing, even with over 30 years of being a software engineer!

Some simple easy to follow steps would be good.

I've read lots of the PDF documentations, and tried looking for stuff online/youtube, but nothing I can find properly explains it all, in simple terms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can use this tutorial that goes through dot1x/MAC auth and Captive portal auth using Local user role that is supported on CX 6100 switches.
