    Hi

My Boss asked me yesterday why we are not using and extender or home AP ( like TP-link AX 6600 and etc )
instead of the 305AP to get better performance like he has at home

can you please give me a professional answer please :)

    thanks all

Home access points are optimized to give a few clients good performance.  They are also meant to be managed individually with manual settings which would be difficult to scale in the enterprise.

Enterprise access points are meant to give many  clients good performance simultaneously and are easier to manage at scale.  They also have  features to optimize the many different types of enterprise clients expected to connect in those networks.

That is a very general description of the difference.

    Hi TK,

A lot goes in to answering this properly but it comes down to the differences between feature set of enterprise and home IT equipment. Enterprise Wi-Fi is designed to work well in both small scale and massive scale solutions. For example, there are roaming protocols supported in the AP-305 which simply won't exist in most of the home AP world. Also, an Aruba AP can be aware of a call taking place over Wi-Fi and limits certain disruptive behaviours for that client such as load-balancing them to another AP. The TP-link is very unlikely to consider balancing clients across multiple APs at all.

What support is available to you with home IT equipment. Often you are limited to forums or support from the shop you purchased it from. Neither of which typically contain expert advice. Enterprise equipment, especially Wi-Fi, usually has a large user community as well as the expected multi-tiered support structure.

    Also, comparing an AX6600 to an AP-305 is unbalanced. AX6600 is tri-band Wi-Fi 6, where the AP-305 is dual band Wi-Fi 5.
