  • 1.  How to get 8.13.x.x to reimage my AP-635 for IAP VC controllerless mode non cloud no aruba central mode? Standalone WLAN

I have a traveling company without any need for corporate E-Mail or web sites, and don't pay for overhead.   The Essid for these HPE Aruba are for IOT control wifi6 devices that use WIFI to reach each other for control over private WLAN.

Overseas cases are very difficult to hear agents overseas and now they are disablers and blockers and gatekeepers to discriminate legal USA customers.  Perhaps they enjoy the power, but the problem is they are blocking legit HPE Aruba support.

i don't find any legal disclosure HPE will discriminate support for valid serial numbers entitled for support however there is discrimination making claims about authentication or made-up issues.

Therefore, how to download to get AP-635 AOS 8.13.x.x to reimage my AP for IAP VC controllerless mode non cloud central mode?

Google says the AP set in self-controller IAP VC mode can find and self-install best image if there is a temporary internet connection, is this true?  I don't want AOS 10.x.x that has no longer any VC or IAP support function and has the crutch of cloud central only.

Not fully sure what you want to do and what problem you run into. You seem upset by something, but it's not fully clear by what.

If you, for some reason upgraded the AP to AOS10, you can downgrade it via Central to AOS 8 as easy as you could upgrade.

the problem is entitlement for HPE Aruba TAC support or whatever it is now overseas level 1 engineers now in 2025.

The core problem is errors that prevent my logins from downloading aos 8.13.x.x for AP635 based on my best guess that's what is needed. (not sure)

A minor problem is guessing vs knowing the best legacy stand-alone virtual controller less setup which must bring up SSID without any cloud or Inet default gateway.

Upset with twelve cases this week the keep auto closing and acting like they cannot hear me on the phone while I am talking.  Four cases on AP32 that failed before that, upset by a demonstrated pattern of no support and did not enable any up and running support by default.

Upset you can't get the 90days install support without a peppering of escalations which was not the caes before overseas untrained call centers are binary script readers and non-engineer entitlement failures.

Upset that HPE Aruba seems to be anti-customer vs how it used to be pro customer and enable a customer success.

All that is needed is AOS 8.13.X.X and I can trial by fire figure out how to setup VC IAP mode with DHCP Static Reservations

I read reference to AP-635, but then later AP32 (Instant ON ?)

Let's distinguish between these 2 very different products. (the SW images are not interchangeable).

    AP Image Downloads:

The InstantON Requires a public Internet connection, and is only upgradable via the web UI from the public Internet.

    For Instant products (IAP)

Software downloads are available with valid credentials from the HPE networking portal website, and can be installed using the Web UI, TFTP, FTP, SCP, etc...

    https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/home

A minor problem is guessing vs knowing the best legacy stand-alone virtual controller less setup which must bring up SSID without any cloud or Inet default gateway.

The Instant product documentation (attaching the IAP VRD for  reading convenience) should cover a basic setup  - the most basic is a single IAP

which will take on the VC functionality, it does not require a public Internet connection.

All that is needed is AOS 8.13.X.X and I can trial by fire figure out how to setup VC IAP mode with DHCP Static Reservations

The IAP itself can use static addressing,  and there is the capability to reserve IP addresses from a configured DHCP pool (please reference the IAP CLI Reference guide

    or online help)

    (host) [mynode] (config) #ip dhcp reserved hardware-address ae:ff:ff:ff:ff:ae ip-address 1.2.3.4 hostname aruba

Thanks for reply and all links to older gen gear

Does WIFI6E 2X2 MUMIMO use ARM and Auto-channel in FAT mode (non-internet, no path off AP) in private VLAN?
    -  I am still gatekeeps from HPE-Support and hunting for the AOS 13.X/10.X AOS syntax to force IAP mode upon boot.

Disable arm for multicast AVIO Yes/No?

Interesting to confirm vintage AP300 AOS 6.X "FAT" mode may be the same as standalone "Instant Access Point" Virtual Controller 'MODE" in AOS 13 or 10, unless that is not true?
(Got this sorry I did not state it clearly-->) And IAP does not equal "Instant On", that is totally different and perhaps we can blame the HPE marketing department confusing customers.

DEALING WITH HPE OVERSEAS SUPPORT:  In summary once an AP Owner/Engineer has advanced AOS feature and command syntax knowledge for their HPE AP enterprise product ... the HPE level 1 support has less GATEKEEPING CASE DISABLMENT (auto close dozens cases) .   Once a customer can speak in a manner that reduces the case entitlement gatekeeping by level 1 a support, a case may actually work, so far this is not the case.   HPE support hunts and hunts hard to close your case and not provide support, not pass on the support request for engineering assistance.

Does WIFI6E 2X2 MUMIMO use ARM and Auto-channel in FAT mode (non-internet, no path off AP) in private VLAN?

    • AOS8 controller-terminated APs  use ARM to gather data, adjust operations, and if in use, feed the optional Mobility Conductor where Airmatch runs with data to instruct APs on optimal bonding, channel, and TX power. (IAP and AOS10 also use ARM to gather data, and feed Central Airmatch).
    • AOS8 controller-terminated work with no public Internet connection, just an IP connection between the APs and the MD/controller.
    • (please reference the AOS User and CLI Reference Guides)

Disable arm for multicast AVIO Yes/No?

    • please define AVIO ? Depending on the applications, network design, there are cases where it is advisable to pause ARM scanning for certain applications. ARM also contains logic to pause under some conditions (such as voice/video traffic).

In general, this document contains AOS8 relative recommendations, which might be helpful:

Interesting to confirm vintage AP300 AOS 6.X "FAT" mode may be the same as standalone "Instant Access Point" Virtual Controller 'MODE" in AOS 13 or 10, unless that is not true?

I am not aware of AOS13.  AOS8 and AOS10 are currently supported architectures.

AOS8  (and AOS6) offers controller-terminated APs with or without a public Internet connection.

IAP (AOS8) operate as standalone APs without a controller, with or without a public Internet connection. (They can be managed by Central if desired).

AOS10 APs are similar to the AOS8 IAPs in that they operate as standalone APs, but can terminate tunnels using an MD/controller (also known as a Branch Gateway).

both AOS10 AP and BGW are managed by the cloud-based Central (new generation called CNX).

I still can't get entitles to HPE-Support.  I was in the wrong team non-Aruba and then the call back got bounced like the other 20 cases since march.  They keep autoclosing them.   All wrong technology for this solution of HPE Aruba AP32 and AP25 were returned.

    Now it's AP-635

Forgot for best AP-635 strong coverage would a power injector work better and does it need to be POE++ CLASS 8 or class 6 or class 4?  Can it be MGig2.5 INLINE?

AP-POE-BTSR (R1C73A) is that the one or what would the 4 to 5  2.5MGig switchports small switch be which would allow at least 2 PoE units powered on AP-635 for pilot proof of concept.

Also to stay All HPE,  Looking for small MGIG POE++ Switch like the version of TL-SG105PP-M2 or Netgear 2.5Mgig MS108EUP Class 4 with 230w total budget, right? Does HPE make that anymore? .

(AP655 AP654 Yagi cardioid high gain external  would be phase 2 of proof of concept. )
