  • 1.  HP 12518 ISSUE WITH LOSS PACKET NEED TO REBOOT CHASSIS

    Posted Jul 15, 2015 08:08 AM

    Dear All,

I´m having an issue with ou HP 12500 (HP 12518) Chassis JF430C. Sometimes the response time of the network begins to increase a lot and begins to loss packet between any vlans. I.E even If i try to ping (imcp) from one host to another host loss at lest 80% of the packs.

There are no log messages about this issue, no warning, just starting to loss and to work around this problem i need to reboot the chassis with the command "reboot chassis 1'.  I have 2 HP12500 with IRF.

The version of the software is:

HP Comware Software, Version 7.1.045, Release 7328P01
    Copyright (c) 2010-2014 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
    HP 12518 uptime is 14 weeks, 6 days, 7 hours, 48 minutes
Last reboot reason : User reboot
    Boot image: cfa0:/12500-cmw710-boot-r7328p01.bin
Boot image version: 7.1.045P14, Release 7328P01
    Compiled Mar 07 2014 18:50:59
    System image: cfa0:/12500-cmw710-system-r7328p01.bin
System image version: 7.1.045, Release 7328P01
    Compiled Mar 07 2014 18:51:14

Can anyone gave me a tip in order to fix this problem?  Could be a bug of this software version? or anything else.  I send the log to the HP support but no misconfiguration or another thing was there.

    Thanks for the help.

    Adriano

Increase your logging level so you get more detail.

    Monitor CPU & memory usage.

Always when I encounter odd bugs/behaviour I make sure to first put in the latest firmware (and reboot) to see if that fixes anything.

Currently the latest available firmware for HP 12518) Chassis JF430C is 12500_7.10.R7374 available from https://h10145.www1.hp.com/Downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JF430C&lang=en&cc=us&prodSeriesId=4177453

Also a minute or so after your reboot I would do a "display diagnostic-information" and save for later to be compared with a "display diagnostic-information" once the problem encounters (and you manage to login to the device to perform this task) - this would be helpful once you file that as a bugreport towards HP support.
