Hi All,

We are planning to buy a HP 3500yl switch with PoE.
Wanted to know if we can connect a normal device (another switch or PC to any of these PoE ports).

We have one 5308XL HP moduler switch, can we get PoE module for this switch?

Hi,
of course you can connect non PoE devices to all ports of the 3500yl. you can disable the power at the ports.

The 5308xl doesn't support PoE at all. There are no modules who support PoE

In web view of switch 5308xl we have one PoE Status and in Configuration tab we have PoE configuration tab.

you are right, there is a 24*10/100-tx Module which support PoE (J8161A IEEE 802.3af).
But you then need either the 600 EPS/RPS or the 610 EPS extra powersupply.

I have one doubt that can we get 24*10/100-tx Module which support PoE for switch 5308xl, because I heard that HP stopped production these switches, so is it possible to get that PoE module in present market?

As i don't have any 5308xl i can't tell you if those modules are still available.

The external PSU is connected to the switchchassis. you can find the connector at the back of the switch.

On the 5300 POE module (J8161A) the EPS port is on the front of the module itself. There are no EPS ports on the chassis itself.

And yes, that switch has reached end of life, so new modules are unavailable. You can still find them used for online resellers and eBay.
