HP 5406-44G-PoE+-2XG v2 zl (J9533A)

    Hello guys,

    I was wondering if it is possible to do this:

    HP 5406-44G-PoE+-2XG v2 zl (J9533A) plus HP 8-port 10GbE SFP+ v2 zl Module (J9538A),

    Connect to module J9538A my two servers with Intel cards, plus other two HP 2920-24G Switch (J9726A) via HP X132 10G SFP+ LC SR Transceiver (J9150A).

    The topology would look like:

    VLAN_1: 1 Server, serving 10Gbe for 1 HP 2920-24G
    VLAN_2: 1 Server, serving 10Gbe for the J9533A ports plus the ports from the other HP 2920-24G.

    1/ The connection to the servers: the procurve will only accept Procurve transceivers, so you would need a Procurve copper cable, but do your servers support that? You may need to go with OM3 fibre and J9150 SFP+ transceivers.

     

    2/ Connections to the switches - if it's only 100m, you would save money by using J9150 SR SFP+s. Is the fibre to the other buildings multimode? If it's singlemode, you'll have to use the singlemode transceivers. You may even need attenuators.
