what´s the (maximum) number of MPLS labels being supported on

• 5500-HI
• 5800
• 5900
• 5930
• 7900

switches?

I don't have all of the switches listed, but on checking the 5900, the info is all in the manuals (see HP 5920 5900 Switch Series MPLS configuration Guide). The MPLS label field is a 20 bit field and this equates to 1048575 which is the same as shown in the user guide. I've not used MPLS, but this would appear to the info you are after.

Well, I´m actually interested in the hardware limit of the switches. All mentioned devices have different ASICs.

Within the datasheets we learn about the maximum ARP table, maximum MAC table,... It´s all about TCAM size.

Therefore it would be great to know many MPLS labels can I get on those different devices.

MPLS Label number support:

• 5500-HI =4,000
• 5800 = 4,000 (exluding the 5820 and 5810)
• 5900 = 4,000
• 5930 = 4,000
• 7900 = Current code does not yet support MPLS
