  • 1.  HP E3800 Stacking question

I’m hoping there is a simple answer to this question. I inherited a project from a technician that has now left my company. I’m stuck with the equipment that he ordered.

I have 3 x HP E3800 48G-SFP+ switches each with a 4-port stacking module installed. My challenge is how do I stacking them most efficiently with just 4 stacking cables (I am aware of how to make a full mesh with 6 cables, but I’m stuck with only 4.)

    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Port 1 of node 1 to port 1 of node 2

Port 2 of node 2 to port 2 of node 3

port 3 of node 3 to port 3 of node 1

Page 2-26 will be very helpfull i guess :)

I'll interpret by your reply that the 4th cable serves no purpose. Thanks for the response Hans VB.

I will just go with the 3 cables  for a ring topology. I may never know why he ordered that forth cable.
