I've done a bit of reading about PoE for the 2626-PWR however I'd like a confirmation on a few bits...

1. Does the ProCurve 2626-PWR Supply Power for PoE to the Cisco Devices or would I have to use the Cisco PoE Injector module one for each Cisco AP1242

2. If the Switch 2626-PWR is protected and supplied power/mains by a UPS does that include protecting and supplying power to the Cisco AP1242 Devices for when there is a power failure so there is still WLAN during UPS Supplied Power....

Cisco claims in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6521/products_data_sheet0900aecd8031c968.html that the 1242 is 802.3af compliant, so it should work as the 2626PWR is 802.3af compliant as well.

Since the 2626PWR only has one AC input it will supply PoE as long as AC power is supplied (unless you add a RPS...)

The 2626PWR is specified to supply up to 15.4W to each of its 100MBit ports so that should be sufficient for the 1242 (specs say its rated 12.95W)

The 2626-PWR and 2650-PWR have internal power supplies that can supply up to 406 Watts of -50V DC for the PoE devices.

For the 2626-PWR, thatâ s enough to supply 15.4 Watts per port for all 24 10/100 ports, the maximum allowed by the 802.3af specification for Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE).

The Cisco Aironet 1240AG supports 802.3af PoE and needs 12.95W, and that is Class 0 PoE.

If you have 20 x Cisco AIR-AP1242AG, then the ProCurve 2626-PWR should be fine and can provide you 15.4W to all its 24 ports, because 406 Watts is enough for 24 ports at the maximum allowable wattage.

Note:
considering the Power Loss (16%) for Class 0, then you can get = 12.95W.
