I can't get my new USB external modem to work. Everything had been replaced, including PC, phone lines, even the modem. I'm running XP and the modem will dial, be answered but then disconnect while trying to connect. Line and ISP numbers work ok with a different modem on laptop. Anyone know why it doesn't connect?

Be sure to check that the dial-up connection isn't "firewalled" by XP. I know that coused some trouble for me once...
