    Howdy,

I wouldn't carry on trying to fix if you are getting into bootrom and alike. I would take the serial number off the back and log a support call based upon the lifetime warranty. 3100 v2 is a pretty recent switch so as long as you are the first registered owner you should have entitlement...

Even if some of the magic smoke has escaped you should get another one posted out to you.

Qualify the issue with support / warranty through the portal and see how you get on.

Always best to register your products in case you got a free introductory uplift to a "support" entitlement rather than a "warranty" entitlement with your switch purchase.

"Support" will talk to you at weekends whereas Product Warranty is an office hours function. :-)

    Ta

    Ian

Are you trying to transfer the latest - say the A3100V2-CM520-R5213P02.bin (that's for the JD313B I suppose you have) - software image (which includes the Boot ROM image)?

Ian, yes the switch can be replaced, no problem here, it's a brand new kit. It's more about getting myself familirized with this kind of situations.

and yes I was trying to put the newest software on it. A3100V2-CMW520-R5213P02.bin

to be honest I haven't gone through release notes to see whether you need to follow a specific upgrade path, will check on Monday

    a quick update

I was just about to get some outputs for HP needed to RMA the switch and all of a sudden it booted to extended bootrom, I've erased the flash and copied the new software, so far so good, the switch boots with no problems - magic!
