    Hi Everyone,

I recently upgraded several builing backbones to fiber, and I'm finding that during busy times on the network, both LEDs on my SX fiber cards are solid. There are times when the left LED is not on or blinks randomly, but much of the day the LED is on solid.

Is this normal for busy networks or am I having some sort of packet storm?

    Thank you

It doesn't take too much traffic to get a solid activity light, what I would recommend is check the port utilisation through web interface. You could also check the port counters.

By the sounds of it, it's most likely normal.

If you do not have errors on the SX port, and if users are not complaining about slow network - you're OK! I see this behavoiur on my 4000 switches, too.

Yes, the same I see on my 8000m. I saw that it stay solid when its traffic don't fall below 60 % more than 1 minute. But network works fine.
