    Posted Jan 10, 2019 10:07 AM

    Hi All,

I'm currently facing an issue with enabling POE on a newly purchased switch

Switch is set to default config and freshly updated to 5.20.105, 1810P16.

On attempting to enable poe the following message is displayed "POE power is not ready, or communication failed".

On querying POE module with "display poe pse" the following is generated :

     PSE ID                           : 4
     PSE Slot No                      : 1
     PSE SubSlot No                   : 0
     PSE Model                        : LSW148POEM
     PSE Power Enabled                : enabled
     PSE Power Priority               : -
     PSE Current Power                : 0        W
     PSE Average Power                : 0        W
     PSE Peak Power                   : 0        W
     PSE Max Power                    : 0        W
     PSE Remaining Guaranteed         : 0        W
     PSE CPLD Version                 : -
     PSE Software Version             : 0
     PSE Hardware Version             : 0
     PSE Legacy Detection             : disabled
     PSE Utilization-threshold        : 80
     PSE Pd-policy Mode               : disable
PSE PD Disconnect Detect Mode    : AC

I've attemted flashing the module with "poe update full  A5800_5820X-CMW520-R1810P16.bin  pse 4" and this does not resolve the issue. However, it reports the flash occures successfully. Power cycling the unit has no effect either.

It's worth noting the switch is currently fitted with 2 x 300W PSU's, is this compatible ? The switch was delivered in this configuration.

    Alex

    Same issue here.

My understanding is that you need minimum 750W PSU to enable poe. If you do the calculation 15.4W x 48 = 739.2W required, what you have is 600W PSU. To enable PoE+, 750W dual PSU is required.
