    Hello!

A customer bougth 25G SFP28 HPE Server Networking DAC Cables (844480-B21) along with his new HPE servers.

Now, they are currently not getting a link to the server NIC's.
At the moment, I think, the problem lies on the not to 25 Gigs configured Server NIC's. Because the DAC cable is logged as unsupported transceiver, so i think it will come up if both sides will be configured to 25 Gigs....

    Chassis: HPE 5945 JQ076A (4-Slot Switch)
    Line Card: JH450A

But, is there a compatibility matrix between HPE Comware components and HPE Server DAC's available?

    Thank you!

For a DAC cable it must be supported by the networkcard in your server and the switch aswell.

For dac-cable support for your networkadapter you can check for example this document:

    https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/V2/getpdf.aspx/A00002507ENW.pdf?

For dac-cable support for your 5945 the best you can look in the quickspecs. https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/gethtml.aspx?docname=a00047323enw

    Hi!

    I've checked both.
The 844480-B21 HPE "Server networking" DAC is not listed in the 5945 quick specs.

So this means: HPE Server networking transceivers and cables are not official supported on the HPE FlexFabric 5945 switch series.
They will work if both, the server and switch side is set to 25 Gigs but there is no support guaranteed.

Thats correct. Let me known what partnumber networkinterface you have and see if there is another DAC cable supported for your devices.

For urgent matter the best way is to contact support.

    Hi!

    Thank you!
I know the Comware DAC partnumbers.
But I just wanted to validate this against the community.

If the HPE server DAC‘s won‘t come up after the port speed correction on both sides, we have to change them with comware DAC‘s.

The DAC's need to be supported on the 5945's, most servers do not perform vendor part number white-listing and just follow MSA requirements. However, if any of the servers are vendor appliances...you'll need to verify.

Ok ... as far as I know, they should be HPE proliant Servers. I will check their cards and requirements.

    Hello!

The NIC is compatible to the DAC, but the server does not recognize the  25Gbps capability of the DAC.
It seems that there are some issues with servers, NIC's and 25 Gbps DAC's.
I found a support.hpe.com server relating article addressing a similar problem.

    https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00052339en_us&docLocale=en_US

This issue is primarily server related.
Maybe an driver or firmware incompatibility.

We started an TAC case for HPE Server products.

    Hi,

Did you get around any resolution to this? I had a similar requirement and was wondering if we can have the 25G 5m DAC running out of 5945s compatible to our DL-380s.

    Thanks in advance!!
