  • 1.  IAP joining Airwave issue

    Hi

Iv installed Airwave 8.3.0.5(ESXi 6.7) and tried joining a IAP cluster, every time they comes up as Down. The IAP runs the newest software 8.13.xx. both Airwave and IAP are on the same LAN, no firewall. SNMP v2 is setup on the IAP. Iv added SNMP info in the commication tab in the Airwave.

For the IAPs to join the Airwave iv tried the following.

    -Discovery ( no IAP found)

-Manuel add the IAP VC (IAP VC added but down and no info found)

-Manuel added both IAP (got added but both down and no info)

Iv asked chatgpt and copilot and both on the "told" me that i need to got in to the IAP Vc and add a PSK under the Airwave tab, adn to add the PSK to the Airwave. But i cant find the place to enter the PSK in Airwave?

    Any help is much appreciated

IAP communicates to AirWave over WebSocket (HTTPS) and not SNMP. Make sure port 443 is not blocked between IAP and AirWave.

SNMP option is for traps in IAP. PSK method is rigth way to manually add VC to AirWave and AP's should be discovered automatically.

    Hi Gowri Amujuri

Blocked port is not a problem, sinch they are on the same LAN and no FW between.  Can you tell more about how this is done?

"PSK method is rigth way to manually add VC to AirWave and AP's should be discovered automatically. " Becouse im having a really hard time figuring out, where to enter the PSK iv set in te VC IAP in the Airwave

    Much appreciated

You don't need to add PSK to AirWave. Only place you have to add it is in IAP AirWave setup.

Check if you already have APs discovered and delete them from AirWave.

When you add AirWave configuration into IAP APs will automatically connect assuming you have licenses available on AirWave .

@Th3Plug all you need to do on the IAP side is complete the "AirWave" configuration in the "Configuration -> System -> Admin" tab. If you're using a server DNS name, make sure the IAPs are resolving it correctly. Have you tried using the IP address also? Can you share a screenshot?

In my experience, connecting an IAP to the AirWave can take 10 to 15 minutes. On the Airwave side a folder will be created with the name you specified in the "Organization" field. You can also create subfolders by entering the folder and subfolder names in the "Organization" field separated by a colon, e.g., "Test:subfolder_name".
