  • 1.  Intermittent Wireless Connection loss and not reconnecting

    Posted Apr 28, 2004 06:55 AM
I'm using a Linksys WRT54G with my ze5600 notebook and find I have trouble staying on the WiFi more than a few minutes, no matter how strong the signal is. The network connecton cycles out, then I receive a message that that the network is available. Also, even though this system is set to automatically re-connect, it does not. I have two other units, both towers with Linksys 802.11g cards installed, that don't have this problem. Is there a compatibilty problem with HP and Linksys?

    Hi Richard,

You could also post this over in the Pavilion Notebook Category:

The folks there will have some suggestions for you also,

    Hope this helps,

    Gary

    Hey Richard,

I am having conntectivity issues too. At first I would lose a connection every 2-3 minutes. Is the same thing happening to you? I did some research and found a fix on Microsoft's website:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=826942

Also, you can find out more here:

To be honest, I think our Linksys WRT54G routers are simply crap. Although the above fixed my 2-3 minute wireless connection loss problem, I am still losing connectivity but at random times. Sometimes I have good days and sometimes bad days when it comes to connection loss.

try to download latest WRT54G firmware. There are a few compatibilities issues indeed :
    ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/
    get wrt54g_1.01.4_012903_us_code.exe and wrt54g_1.01.4_013103_us.zip
