IRF Port-group and ASCI Port groups on HP 5920 and HP 5800

    Hello all,

     

    on the HP 5920AF switches four 10GB Ports share one ASIC, thatswhy if you enable IRF you have to configure 4 Ports in one IRF port group. Thereby you will loose 2 ports (per group)  within dual link IRF setup. 

     

    Is this the same on HP 5800-24?  If I need to single IRF Ports, do  I loose the two other 10GB ports on the buildin 4xSFP+?

    Hi,

     

    The 5800 does not have this limitation to my knowledge, so any 10G port can be used for IRF without impact on the normal 10G operation of the other ports.

     

    For the 5120/5500 with 10G plugin modules some restrictions do apply.
