    I have in a classroom a 19in rack with an installed 4204VL chassis (J8770A) including 2 VL modules 20-GT/4SFP (J9033A) + 2 power supplies. Only 14 Gig-T Ports  are in use. My problem: the switch is very very noisy and there are no more possibilities of noise reduction...

     

    Now my idea: replacing the 4204VL with an exitisting 2810-24G (J9021A). The loudness would be tolerable.

     

    High availability is not important, but the performance. Can somebody compare the data throughput? The datasheets didn't helped me. The network must not slow down.
