    Hi,

yes, it is a hotswapable module, you need to check before the firmware of chassis with management card if it is compatible or not (need to have v2 or v3 card)

    ------------------------------
PowerArubaSW : Powershell Module to use Aruba Switch API for Vlan, VlanPorts, LACP, LLDP...

PowerArubaCP: Powershell Module to use ClearPass API (create NAD, Guest...)

PowerArubaCX: Powershell Module to use ArubaCX API (get interface/vlan/ports info)..

I have found over the years that if I put a card into a say 5400 that has never been in the unit before it will no recognize it without a reboot. If there is another procedure that lets you insert a card that has never been in the system without a reboot I would be interested in that procedure.

Hi John Anvari, have you tried with module <module-num> type <module-type> CLI command to (pre)assign/(pre)populate logically a particular SKU on a particular module slot? technically speaking a switch reboot should not be necessary (Hot inserting a module indeed should let the Switch to recognize the inserted module automatically without necessity for the user to kick in and performing other operations).

Hello Muhammad Danish Saleem, it is supposed that the Aruba 8-port 1/2.5/5/10GBASE-T PoE+ MACsec v3 zl2 Module (SKU: J9995A), which belongs to the v3 zl2 Modules family, is going to be installed on (1) an Aruba 5400R zl2 Switch series operating at least with v2 compatibility mode enabled or, better, operating with v3 zl2 only mode enabled and with (2) proper minimum Software version installed, KB.15.17.0003 or newer (latest is strongly recommended, see KB.16.08, KB.16.09 and KB.16.10 software branches).

Have a look here about modes of operations (pay attention that if you're planning to use VSF in future then you must set the Aruba 5400R zl2 Switch with v3 zl2 mode of operation and use only v3 zl2 Modules).

The module is definitely hot-swap - I have done this multiple times.

It has already been suggested that the firmware must support the module - we haven't introduced a new module for a while - any firmware after that will be fine.

I have not ever noticed the need to reboot after hot-adding a new module into a previously unused slot. If you are swapping the same module (eg you have an RMA unit), there is nothing else you need to do. However, if the new module being installed is different, you will need to clear the slot config first.
    no module n
where n is the slot ID (eg no module d)
