I have a ring network, as shown in the figure below:

    Ring Network

Between the fiber optic runs of the Dell switch and the 2 TP-Links there is approximately 200 to 250 meters.

After a storm, the Dell swtich damaged several RJ-45 ports, so we purchased the HPE Aruba 1930 JL685A Switch and 2 Aruba J4859D transceivers.

I installed the transceivers on the SFP ports, the switch identifies the installation of the tranceivers, but it does not provide a link with the fiber connected to the other 2 TP-Link switches.

I borrowed 1 TP-Link TL-SG3428 switch and connected it to the same fiber and the link works.

I did a test and connected this TP-Link TL-SG3428 switch to the HPE Aruba JL685A with a 1.50 meter pigtail and the connection between the switches works, so the problem is not in the SFP port or in the transceivers.

As with the TP-Link TL-SG3428 switch connected to the fiber that has between 200 and 250 meters it works, the fiber is not broken.

Is there any distance or fiber signal restriction for this HPE Aruba JL685A to work?

We use this HPE Aruba JL685A, because at the company's branch we have a similar situation, the difference is that the fiber optic runs are shorter, around 150 meters, and there this Aruba switch works without problems through the transceivers connected to the SFP ports.

In the branch on the JL685A switch dashboard, the link on the SFP ports appears as down, but communication between the switches in the ring network works normally.

Spanning tree popped into my mind.

Did you test to connect only one fiber from loop and wait for a while link to come up?

Is there any log entries which can explain this? Single mode fiber with low speed normally make it possible to make 10km links so I don't think this is about link length.

What kind of fibers there is in installation? I mean I read last part of posting again where you said that shorter spans usually works which makes me think about if you try to use multimode to transfer singlemode content?!? That will work to the some point (with errors)

    Problem solved.

Searching the forum, I saw other reports and they talked about updating the firmware, on the website I found this page: https://community.arubainstanton.com/blogs/jamie-easly1/2020/06/03/instant-on-1930-switching-software-portal

My Aruba JL685A switch was running version 2.6.0, I updated it to version 2.9.0.53, restarted the switch and both fiber optic links started working.
