Hello,
We occassionally get complaints from people running networks that our APs are installed on (it's a federated environment) that APs are causing lots of log entries because of the jumbo frames they send for MTU discovery. I know this behaviour is intended and doesn't affect operation, but we debating whether it is worth setting the SAP MTU to get rid of the messages (it's not high on our list of priorities, but if it makes life easier then why not?).
We had some concerns about what the implications of this might be - could this affect client MTU discovery for example?
Also I noticed that in the firewall settings we have Jumbo disabled - does this mean that anyway we are not supporting jumbo frames at all, and that setting an MTU of say 1500 would not have a negative effect on federated networks that might currently support Jumbos (ie they currently aren't seeing any benefit in any case)?
I guess another option is for network operators to configure their switches to ignore those particular messages on those particular ports, though I'm not sure how that is done (off for a Google...).
Thank you,
Guy
