    Hi,

I have a new install across 2 Datacentres

    DC1 - 2x mm, 2xmd
    DC2 - 2x mm, 2xmd

I configure the layer3 redundancy between the MM's across the data centres successfully, when I complete this however I lose connectivity to the MD's on  the MM's in DC2

has anyone had this issue ? It would suggest a configuration issue as the design has been mentioned in the Aruba documentation

    Many Thanks in advance

    David

For more information this is the design which we have gone for with the description around it

    Many thanks in advance

Also, check out this Airheads presentation. It may clear some things up for you. In your situation, I would look closer at slide 11 where it explains why the MM will not accept MDs if the Primary DC is still seen as being up.

Do you have your MDs pointing primarily to the VIP of MMs in DC1, and a backup to the VIP of MMs in DC2?

    Hi Dustin,

    Many Thanks for your reply

I indeed have MDs pointing primarily to the VIP of MMs in DC1, and a backup to the VIP of MMs in DC2

Does the Folder structure need to be the same and do i need to 'add the MDs on into both clusters for this to work correctly ?

Currently I have MDs in DC1 only added into cluster in DC1 and MDs in DC2 only added into cluster in DC2

    Thanks again

    David

Your folder structure should be the same across the board as this would be synchronized between datacenters by the MMs. Your local clusters (DC1 and DC2) would be configured through the primary MM, and the settings will sync to the other MMs.

Did you deploy them as two standalone MM pairs, or did you build the first pair, and then add the additional via L3 redundancy?

    Hi Dustin,

Luckily the folder structure is the same within both DC's

I built the MM and MD's in DC1, then built the MM's and MD's in DC2.

I have only now added the L3  redundancy

I would rebuild the MMs in DC2, up to the interfaces to get it up on the network. And then configure the redundancy making sure database synchronization is on. Then let the settings propagate to DC2 MMs.

    Hi Dustin,

    appreciate the information

I currently have the crypto tunnels up between the MM's but obviously by doing this it will hopefully resolve the MD's from disappearing in DC2

will carry this out and keep you posted

    Many Thanks again

This may be a silly question, but are you working with a Partner or an Aruba Sales Engineer on this design?  There could be some factors  in your environment that could prevent you from deploying this successfully.
