    Posted Apr 01, 2025 06:21 AM

I have many separate systems, and each system is equipped with one access point: Aruba 303 (8.10.0.7) or Aruba 503 (8.11.2.2). The client for each system is iPads from Apple.

After the iPads upgraded to iOS >= 18, the connection experience rapid disconnection and reconnection every exactly 30 mins for every system and Aruba. Please see the logs below.

We noticed one log is suspesus

    10.254.254.2:514 : local1.warning Feb  7 16:25:47 2025 10.254.254.2 AP:CT_CNMQK9T3Y1_WAD <10.254.254.2 94:64:24:CD:68:A8> dnsmasq-dhcp[12214]: Vlan id: 3333

Could you help analyze the meaning of this log and the possible reason?

iPad side also have DNS related logs. The watch dog was trigged every time before the disconnect and reconnect happened.

    @Wu,

That log message is informational and not enough to figure out why your clients are disconnecting every 30 minutes.  We would need to look at all your logs to determine what could be happening.  Please open a TAC case in parallel with this post so that information can be collected and we can get closer to what your problem could be.

    Hi Cjoseph,

Many thanks for your fast reply. Attached you can find a more detailed log.

I also collected the Aruba management frames which indicate that it is the client side who sends the disconnection request every 30 mins.

However, we want to figure it out if there is any potential issue from the AP side related to DNS, since there are logs about DNS in AP side and client side. Also, no such disconnection issue using the same iPad as client and other brand of access point.

Would you have any idea of the meaning of the Aruba log: dnsmasq-dhcp[12214]: Vlan id: 3333?

"dnsmasq-dhcp" is from the dhcp process, not the dns process.  You can enable debug logging to see more details from the dnsmasq-dhcp process and then type "show log debug | include dnsmasq" to get more detail for everything related to dnsmasq.  That might get you closer to your information.

    Hello Cjoseph,

I set all the log level to debug and collected the information.

I colored the content with offline client mac "b2:77:b4:83:a2:29" with blue.

    Content with dnsmasq with yellow.

Content shows client offline and online with red.

I went through the log but cannot find the relation between the messages. Could you kindly have a look on this? Thank you!

    Best Regards,

    Wei Zheng
