    Hi there.  After updating my controllers to 8.10.0.9 about 6 months ago I've had an issue with the displaying of client information.  Previously when I looked at the client list it would display all the IP addresses from my guest network, voice network and user networks.  It also resolved most of the MAC addresses to the device names.  SInce the update I'm only getting reliable IP info for the guest network and maybe a quarter of my user network and no voice stuff at all.

    I searched this forum and found a suggestion to turn on DHCP option 12 in each Virtual AP setting to help resolve names.  That helped a bit but hasn't fixed it completely.  I'm also clueless as to why most of the IP's don't show up.  I'm not clear on how the system actually reads this information to pass it to the controller in case it's a config thing on the switches or routers that I need to add.  I have some areas still working as expected and others do not with no common factor that I can see.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    I'd recommend upgrading to 8.10.0.13 to see if that resolves anything.  Failing that, open a case with TAC and ask why the MCR isn't showing the client IP addresses.

    Please note that the DHCP option 12 (Hostname) only has effect when clients re-DHCP. So if you enabled that on a running network, it may take some time before all clients have reconnected to the network. Clients with static IP won't show up.

    If you have an external authentication server (ClearPass for example) and authenticate the clients, you can return the IETF:User-Name with the name of the client/user and that would show up in the list instead of the mac address (or username).

    Hi again.  I've actually preloaded version 8.12.0.1 on all the controllers and was planning on upgrading next week.  I think the only reason I'm seeing any names is because of the option 12 fix which I applied a couple of days ago.  I understand it's only when they re-DHCP but we have quite short lease times and it should have done for more by now.

    I do have a Clearpass server up and running which is checking the dot1x credentials of the clients.  We have lots of contractors on site so it is set to allow our staff to connect to our systems and kicks anything else over to the visitors network.  Is there a configuration guide for getting the information from Clearpass into the wireless controllers?
