    Hello,

We have 6 AP model 205, version 6.4.2.6-4.1.1.6_50009

we want to add two additional AP, model 325, they automatically updated FW to 8.5.0.8.

As a standalone, i can login to the new ones without any problem.

but they don't appear in the existing cluster dashboard.

can it be a version compatibility issue? can the older model (205) be upgraded any further? should i make the new model the master node?

    thanks.

The latest supported Instant firmware for 205 APs is 6.5.x

    as indicated here https://www.arubanetworks.com/support-services/end-of-life/#AccessPoints

In your case, you either need to create two clusters with different management vlans running different versions or downgrade the 325 to 6.5.X and upgrade 205 to 6.5.X (Latest conservative release is 6.5.4.16) if you need all IAPs to be in the same cluster..

Thanks, this is new area for me.

when i first plugged in the new AP, it did what seems to be some kind of upgrade on its own.

how do i prevent it from auto-upgrade next time?

The new APs are the 325s that you're trying to add?

I suspect they upgraded when contacting Activate to check for their initial configuration and to resolve the Activate certificate expiration in older firmware. Once they upgraded to 8.x, you can manually downgrade them to the appropriate version of 6.5 to integrate with your 205 cluster. Once joined to the cluster and configured, they will not upgrade without being instructed to do so.

    Thanks everybody.

The downgrade / upgrade did the trick.

Now my 325 model APs are joined to the 205 cluster.

    Also nothing automatically upgrade itself...

    Much appreciated!
