  • 1.  MM GUI bug after downgrade from 8.10 to 8.7

We were forced to downgrade our cluster (MM and two MDs) from 8.10.0.7 to 8.7.1.11 due to various and significant bugs affecting AirGroup. I started by downgrading the controllers, rebooting, then the MM, and rebooted that as well. Everything came up normally and is working except for the MM GUI. It sees both controllers but none of the APs and none of the clients. I reached out to our Aruba SE and he claims to have seen this before after a downgrade but doesn't have a solution. Does anyone have any ideas?

Especially after a downgrade, you may need to clear cookies/cached content. Check a fresh 'incognito window' to verify without cached data / cookies.

Hi Herman, unfortunately that doesn't work. Our SE said that he's seen this before but there isn't a resolution. Everything is working except that the MM GUI isn't displaying any info about connected APs or clients.

We went from 8.7 to 8.10 which caused huge issues that I spent almost 3 months with TAC trying to get fixes. I'm then forced to downgrade back to 8.7, which fixed all of the 8.10 issues, but the downgrade itself caused another bug. You can't make this stuff up. I'm constantly feeling like I'm beta testing software for Aruba and paying them to do it with ever increasing support fees every year. It's ridiculous.

I just noticed this resolved "bug" in 8.8. Apparently downgrading causes bugs now. It's insane.

TAC was able to resolve this. In 8.10, there's a terminology change for the Mobility Master to Mobility Conductor. This terminology change causes the problem for whatever reason. When a downgrade occurs, the following command needs to be run on the MD folder from the CLI:

(ArubaMM) [md] (config) #mgmt-server primary-server 10.0.0.100 profile default-controller transport udp
    (ArubaMM) [md] (config) #write mem

Just going to point out that the upgrade instructions in the Release Notes include instructions for a supported downgrade procedure as well.  One of the steps is a restore of the flashbackup that was taken prior to the upgrade.
