    Hello,

I would like to implement next design: two MSR 3044 Routers in IRF each with additional slot MSR 1p GbE Combo SIC Mod (PN: JG738A). When I configure IRF on both Routers everything looks ok, but devices not recognized subslots.

    Display device verbose show:

     Slot 1:
     Device Name: HPE MSR3044
Subslot No.  Board Type                Status        Max Ports
      --------------------------------------------------------------
0            Fixed SubCard on Board    Normal          6
      1            Unknown                   Abnormal        Unknown

     Slot 2:
     Device Name: HPE MSR3044
Subslot No.  Board Type                Status        Max Ports
      --------------------------------------------------------------
0            Fixed SubCard on Board    Normal          6
      1            Unknown                   Abnormal        Unknow

Is additional slots in this implementation supported or not?

    Thanks for help.

    Hi there,

Have you re-inserted the module in that slot?

    cheers

I was confronted with the exactly same problem but at a HP MSR MSR1002-4 router. The solution was to change the SIC module from slot 1 to 2. In my case this worked.

However, it is really strange that some modules are only working in certain SIC slots. This should be really better explained by HP. And in my case, at a small MSR1002 router it looks that the usual SIC extensions modules can only be installed at slot 2. So my additional SIC-4GSW (4-port 1 Gbps Ethernet Layer 2 SIC interface module) is effectively useless, it cannot be installed on slot 1. (There are only two SIC slot present at this router.)

I really ask me which sense makes slot 1 when it cannot be used. My old old 3Com MSR20 router didn’t had any such artificial limitations.
