Well, upon reading that I'm actually infuriated. The *whole* reason I ditched my IBM T40 was because of the whole BIOS-restriction/mini-PCI rubbish it enforces on you - then I bumped into an IBM mini-PCI card and installed that. Then deciding that a Mobility Radeon 7500 just wasn't enough so I got this machine - guess what, some crap with the mini-PCI slot. That said I found various guides for hacking the IBM BIOS but I didn't want to do it to a brand new machine.
Just for everyone who tries to use that stupid FCC excuse, Dell doesn't have restrictions on their machines, nor (to my knowledge) do Toshiba, Samsung, etc. So why HP... now I have to have a PC card sticking out the side - I feel very let down, especially considering the price of the machine and the build quality is near-perfect and it has *almost* everything, ALMOST, so close...
