Hi there,

If my switch config has "spanning-tree mode rpvst", configuration validation always fails and it is not possible to make any change with NetEdit. The error is the following:

"cannot configure the rpvst mode, disable spanning-tree (or change) the mode., Invalid input: spanning-tree".

The configuration is running on the switch currently without issues. I just made some changes to other parts of the config (aaa) but can't deploy them.

Any idea how to overcome this error?

Just tried configuring "spanning-tree mode rpvst" and unconfiguring "no no spanning-tree mode rpvst", both validation works fine.

am I missing something from your description?

Try:

spanning-tree
spanning-tree mode rpvst

It fails for me every time.

Even with "deploy solution > Add and Remove configuration" I always get:

Cannot configure the rpvst mode, disable spanning-tree to configure (or change) the mode., Invalid input: spanning-tree

If I set spanning tree mode on switches CLI, it will also fail. I must do the following instead:

no spanning-tree
spanning-tree mode rpvst
spanning-tree

But them as soon as I get "spanning-tree mode rpvst" on my configs, NetEdit becomes worthless. Can't do anything with it.

I always have to remove that line, validate and commit the plan, and go back to the switches and reapply the spanning tree mode.

I'm getting this error even with a clean install of NetEdit 2.0.2 and a bare 6300M config (AOSCX 10.04.0030).

This is a known limitation and product management is aware.

You have to proceed with 2 consecutive changes for time being.
