Hi Everyone,

Having a weird issue with a 2530 8G PoE+ Switch (J9774A). 

Ports 9 and 10 are working fine, but 1-8 don't seem to be recognising a data connection. What's odd is that these ports are providing power, just no data.

I have verified that the ports are enabled, cleared all config, updated firmware, but still the same issue. My Mac doesn't recognise that it's connected to anything and there are no lights on the ports.

If it was power and data then I would just assume that something zapped it, but the fact that its providing power to me implies that its not hardware. 

Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

Did you try with other cables ?
How about other devices than the Macbook ? 

Anything clever from logs or tech support ?

You could contact TAC if nothing works to get the switch RMA'ed.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for the reply. So I've tried different cables and machines. One thing that I forgot to include in the initial post was that ports 9,10 are working as expected, same cable and machine used to test 1-8.

Noting unusual I can see from the logs, did discover that there was an IP conflict with the switch address, but I don’t think thats part of the problem, corrected it and still having the same issue.

I think I will open a TAC case to see if we can RMA it.

If you run a 'debug destination session' do you see any state change on the ports when the cables are removed?
