My router is not overheating, I measured the temperature at the hottest spot (the middle of the bottom) and it's only at 75 degrees. There is nothing surrounding the device so it has plenty of air for cooling.
Additionally, I requested an RMA from 3COM and they sent what appeared to be a new device. After configuring the new device to my network, the problem persists with the new one.
To verify, again, that the router is to blame... I connected a netgear wireless router in place of the 3COM, no problems for 24 hours. If I didn't need to use the virtual server functionality of the 3COM, I would probably just stick with the Netgear.
I replied to the 3COM RMA department and told them their replacement router has the same exact issue, but have not yet received a response.
