I found the documentation not always as clear as possible. What happens is that the AP will send the option 60 with it's request and the value of ArubaAP.
Your DHCP server can recognize that this is an ArubaAP and not a PXE client or VoIP phone, and return in the response option 43 the master information.
This option 60 in DHCP is named '
Client Vendor Identification' or VCI, and the ArubaOS documentation suggest you to name it Aruba AP something, which is confusing. If you have option 60 defined already, you can use the existing attribute to filter for the ArubaAP inside the request option 60.
I'll reach out to our documentation team to see if they can improve the documentation on this point.

Subject: Option 43/60
I am trying to set up the option 43/60 for AP discovery, but when I go to predefined options and try to enter the string for 60 "Aruba AP", I get an error saying that that string is already defined. As it does look like we use 60 for PXE in our environment. Does anyone have any tip or a workaround on being able to use option 43 and 60? Right now I just have the aruba-master set in DNS, but would like to move to DHCP if possible.
