We purchased a brand new dpavillion dv6000 laptop (vista OS) several months ago. The internal wireless card stopped working three days ago. After following all the proceedures that Vista OS receommends, the card still does not connect. We "chatted" with HP help on line, and given a link to download a bios change and a link to download an updated(?) driver for the card. Still doesn't work. Doesn't pick up any router or hotspot. It's dead. Does anyone have a process that will bring it back to life?

    I have a DV6000.
People are having wireless problems. If your warranty is out dont fret.
if you call hp, they will be retarded and say you dont have a warranty therefore we cant help.
Well this is what you do. Somehow borrow a computer and get online. Go to HP online Chat. tell them what is wrong, they will send you a box even if your warranty has expired. "this is a known issue" with these notebooks.
I didnt want to send mine it becuase i dont want to be without a computer. I sent it in Jan 14 and got it back Jan 17.
    Just tough it out.
    goodluck, ps. Mine works now.
Wireless assistant is back, and no more orange!

    Check this: http://tinyurl.com/2jxruy

<HP limited="" warranty="" service="" enhancement=""> for a list of many symptoms caused by motherboard failure, and laptops affected -- my fury is that altho my model number (dv9000) is covered, only certain pruduct numbers under dv9000 are included, and mine is not one of them! The problem is the motherboard, and the symptoms include loss of bootup, VERY slow bootup, WiFi stops working, etc. Send me an email at john (at) johnfrench.org if you have the symptoms but are not covered by their extension plan. If we join together we can stop their refusal to fix their machines. I spent hours with their call center and all they kept saying (politely, of course) is that my product number is not covered. The repair with shipping is well over $500 and it is because of their crappy motherboards!</HP>

I was given the same instructions and it worked! Wireless card was not showing up in device manager at all, light was orange no matter which position. Steps I followed:
    1. press F10 at restart to reset Bios to default
    2. download link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-57604-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us〈=en&os=2093&product=3379129

It seems that my Wireless card driver had just disappeared so this did the trick for me.

It is an ongoing issue. They extended the warranty by one year regarding this issue. Unfortunately I am one month past that and they will not fix it. If you are having problems connecting get it fixed right away or you may be on the hook for a $250.00 repair bill.
