Help...I have installed the software that came with the linksys network adapter. But when I plug it into the slot and turn the computer back on, everything freezes up. When I plug it in when the notebook is running, it also freezes up. What should I do?

    Hi Adrian,

I am using an evo n1020v also and i experienced same problems with a number of wireless cards from different vendors. It always freezes while installing driver. Although i am an experienced user with operating system and hardware, i couldn't find a way to resolve freezing problem. Benq and Cisco cards work without problem, so now i use a Cisco 350.

    Some other thoughts:
    -SP2 installed?
    -logged in as administrator?
    -latest BIOS version?

    -other HP updates?

-check linksys website for updated drivers. Try using downloaded drivers even if versions are same.

-scan for viruses, trojans, etc. If you use Norton or whatever try Panda or Trendmicro online antivirus scan (if you can access internet) I had Norton miss a virus that was detected by Panda that was causing power problems on my notebook.

-if connecting to DSL/Cable modem does it have a USB option that you could use until you sort this out?

-possibly adapter is defective. I have read in many forums about people spending weeks trying to get hardware to work only to find that it was defective in the first place.

Good luck and post back if you find a solution.
