I have just recieved 2 new ProCurve 2510G-48 switch, where one is troubeling me.

The first thing I wanted to do, was to setup a static IP and update to the latest firmware, so I logged in through the console, and flashed the primary image, keeping the secondary image.

But when it finished and rebooted, I could see that it had crashed with the following error:

On top of that it is not running smoothly in the web interface, on the newest firmware. If I boot with the secondary image, it seems okay in the web interface, but in the console it still says, that it had crashed.

Even though it seems to work, with the second latest firmware, I don't trust it 100%, because of the boot crash.

So I would like to get this solved, and if it's a bad switch I would diffently return it, but I don't know what to do from here, cause I not so used to work with switches. So I'm hoping someone in here can guide, on what to do, so I can get it sorted out.

I would aonly worry if you have a date time stamp next to Saved crash information:

Regarding the unstable web page, I have seen this on a few switches running latest firmware (5400zl/2620, etc). Whether it is a bug in the firmware I am not sure. It seems to be more of an issue when using web-management ssl rather than just straight web-management plaintext, but as I do all my work in the CLI I haven't really investigated it.

I am confident that you do not have a problem with the switch, but the latest firmware could be a little iffy relating to the web service. I would load a recent firmware, but not the latest and see if this fixes the web service issue - it could be a bug introduced in the latest revision. Also, check the release notes to see if there are any fixes/features in the latest firmware that you need. you might well be ok with a slightly older firmware release. I would always recommend the latest firmware though as it probably does fix some bugs which were in previous revisions, helping with the switches stability.

Okay, great to hear, that it's normal behavior. I just noticed it, cause the other one didn't do that.

Now I have the latest firmware as primary and the former as secondary, but with the latter loaded, and I think I'll keep it that way.
