Wireless Access

Hello to all,

i have a little question about the ProCurve Wireless Access Point 420. I applied a normal config to two access points. I want that both ap's send out the same wlan with the same ssid, etc.
But i don't find the cli command or the point in the webinterface where i can configure one of them as only repeater.

Could you help?

The HP ProCurve 420 Wireless Ap can work only as an Access Point, and can't work as a repeater.

So both APs you have will broadcast the same SSID for Roaming.

The HP ProCurve 530 access point can work in bridge mode as well as access point.

The AP can have the same SSID for roaming, but technically, its not called Roaming.

Say you have an office with 2 APs, both configured with the same SSID,

Now a client is connected to one of these 2, moved far from the AP and the signal became weak, then the CLIENT will disconnect from that AP and it will find the other AP with same SSID and strong signal so it will associate with it.

Again, the ProCurve 420 is a wireless access point only and can;t work as a repeater or in bridge mode.

My problem is that every ap makes his own SSID, so i have not one merged SSID. I have always two and i don't know where my fault is. :(

For the roaming you are looking for, you need to configure the same SSID for all the APs you have.
