Wireless Access

Hello,

I'm trying to get a clear understanding of the following alert and why I should/ shouldn't be worried about it in an enterprise environment.

The alert from Central on an IAP-575 states

Radio Non-Wifi utilization on AP XXX operating on channel 1 and serving 0 clients has been above 30% for about 15 minutes since 2021-11-03 19:51:00 UTC

It sounds like a notification that an AP has been broadcasting on 2.4Ghz channel 1 and hasn't had any clients for over 15 mins.

Being that this is an outdoor AP, am I translating this right and from an enterprise standpoint other than the AP consuming power is there any other relevance?

I believe this is telling you that there is a non-wifi device operating in the same space at the AP, and the channel is experiencing elevated utilization.

You can use an Spectrum Analyzer like Ekahau Sidekick to find out what's happening on the channel. Or just avoid the channel in that particular area.
