  • 1.  Radio not activated on IAP535 and 534 terminals

    Hello,
     
    We have a cluster of 38 terminals made up of IAP535 and 534 terminals and we have been experiencing the following problems since they were commissioned:
    1) some terminals don't activate their radios on both frequency bands;
    2) in addition to not mounting their radios, other terminals can't reach the controller even though the network configuration is correct. Namely, the terminal responds to ping.
     
    My question is this:
    All the terminals are connected to Cisco 9200 POE+ switches. I've read that POE+ is the minimum power required to operate the terminals, but could this be the cause of our problems?
    A minimum POE power supply limits us to what function?
     
    How can I find out why they don't start their radio?

    If the AP is only getting 802.3af negotiated then the AP isn't going to operate the radios.

    1. Make sure that LLDP is enabled on the switch and switch ports, LLDP is required to negotiate PoE at 802.3at or higher.
    2. Enable IPM on the AP to handle power constrained situation.

    The switches currently deliver 27.5W to the terminals and LLDP is active on the switch and ports.

    And the AP-530 is an 802.3bt device by default.  Enable IPM to allow the AP to operate normally when not power constrained.

    Check "show ap power-mgmt-statistics" to see the AP's current power status.

    We're using a virtual controller. If I type in this command, it sends us information about the master terminal.
    How can I get the information for the terminals affected by the problem? (because it's not on the controller's master terminal that we have the problems).
     
    What are the risks of activating the IPM on the controller?

    Enabling IPM doesn't have a downside, as the feature only gives you more control over the behavior when power is restricted.

    You can use SSH to login to the specific AP to reach the CLI, you can also use the Support option to run commands against a specific AP.

    well you mentioned you had Instant APs, and you can enable IPM through the CLI or if you have Aruba Central, you can do it through there as well.

    There should not be a  need to enable IPM if the AP-53x is powered by class 4 POE (802.3at). Even with IPM off, this AP should only disable USB and the secondary Ethernet port. There should not be any impact on the radio performance or functionality

    This may also be a 'regulatory domain' conflict. What is the country that you operate the APs in?

    If you can login to the CLI (either SSH, or serial console, or use the webUI menu Support) and run the command:
