I just bought an APIN0315 access point from an individual seller on the internet. When I plug it in via an AC adapter, I see that the green light blinks for 6 seconds, the 7th time, it stays on for a few seconds longer and then it continues to blink green for a really long time. After doing this for a few minutes it turns red for a couple of seconds and then starts the who process again.

When I connected it to a router, it got an IP address but it doesn't allow me to log on to that web interface using the IP address. I tried both HTTP and HTTPS interfaces.

When I called the Aruba support, they mentioned that they can't help me since I didn't buy the device from them.

I bought this for my home use thinking a singe device would cover a large area. I'm completely new to Aruba and I understood that this AP could be used without an external controller and I could configure it using the virtual controller on the device.

Any help in getting this device working would be highly appreciated.

    Model: APIN0315

First thing to check is if this is an AP-315 or IAP-315-cc (cc can be US/RW/JP/IL/EG). Both models share the regulatory model numbers you're sharing here.

An AP-315 is useless without a controller. An IAP-315 relies on a built-in virtual controller.

Next thing to do would be to reset the IAP to factory defaults. Use a paperclip or similar to press the reset button while powering up the AP. Keep it pressed for 10s or longer.

Thanks for your response. I already formed a hard reset to factory default and the behavior I described above persists even after the factory hard resets.

I should at least be able to see the web interface irrespective of what the model is right? But here, I can't access that either. Isn't the AP model supposed to provide you with an instant SSID? I don't see that in my case.

Anything else I can try? Or any other info I can provide?

Please check the sticker on the back.

If it says: AP-315 => you won't get the WebUI and need a controller to operate the AP.

If it says: IAP-315-XX (with XX: US/RW/IL/JP) => this is an Instant AP and you can run it standalone.

There is no possibility to run the AP model in a standalone deployment. If you purchased the AP model for a non-controller environment, its probably best to return the the seller to find a solution.

It does say AP-315, so I know the cause of my problem now. Thanks.
