Hi, resolving a hardware failure is easy. You simply need to get the new hardware with the same Firmware Version. Then configure the IRF domain and member ID and IRF ports.
Once ready connect to the master via the IRF ports. Power on. The IRF relationship forms and the config is passed to it. A reboot will likely occur.
Same procedure to add a new member to a healthy IRF stack.
Note you can have a slightly different firmware version and it will copy that across but in 7 years experience there are enough chances when there is an incompatibility that i recommend matching the firmware manually.

Subject: Recovering one memeber of an IRF stack
We have two HPE 5900 AF core switches that are joined in an IRF stack. If we were to lose one of the members due to one of the chassis failing how would we replace it? I am assuming there is some recovery procedure for this.
Any info is appreciated
Thanks
