Hi we recently purchased the console cable from HP and can now log in to the access point. However i did "write erase all reboot", but SSID for for set me up is not displaying. We would like to convert it so that add it to the controller 7030.

    Hi David,

On the backside of the AP-505 is a reset button.

    1. remove power
    2. press and hold the reset button
    3. connect power (while hold the reset button)
    4. wait 10 second
    5. release the reset button

Your factory reset IP is getting automatic an IP from your DHCP server. Look in your DHCP server for the IP adres and connect wired to it though the browser.

Be sure you dont have other configured instantAP in the same vlan, else it will automaticly join that cluster what is find via a broadcast message in the same vlan.

Also sure it's not licensed in Aruba Central or Aruba Activate

When you get the login prompt your default login can be admin/admin or admin/serialnumber(capitalletters), depending on the current installed firmware.

    Hope this helps

    Hi David,

If you have Aruba Central as management platform you would know of that.

Hard reset using the reset button always works, but keep in mind you press and hold it, power-cycle, still holding it for 10seconds and then release the button.

Sometimes its a little but difficult to keep the reset button pressed during remove/add the power cable or UTP.

If you have a microusb console cable you can follow the bootprocess in the CLI.

    You can see messages like:

    • factoryreset by user resetbutton
    • getting dhcp
    • if it connection to arubacentral or activate or not
    • login prompt

If you not aware of aruba central or activate your most likely don't have it.

Can you make a cli capture of the bootprocess and share it?

Yes we have aruba central, we had registered some APs and some of them now we cant reset. Can that be the cause.

    Hi David,

When an Access Point is registered and licenced in Aruba Central and you perform a factory reset, after the reboot the AP will pickup is old configuration from Aruba Central.

You can see this happing in the CLI console where the AP connect to Aruba Central in the boot process.

I understand you like to join the AP to a 7030 that is not managed by Aruba Central?

In that case login to Aruba Central and remove the licence from the device, that AP is then unable to connect Aruba Central after a factory reset.

When you don't have access to Aruba Central, factory default the AP in a VLAN that cannot reach the internet, our block access to Aruba Central in firewall.

Device activity URL's can find here https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/central/2.5.3/content/nms/device-mgmt/connect-devices.htm

Hope this help solving your issue.
