Hello,

is it possible to clear/reset the username and password on a hp procurve switch 2824 (J4903A)?

I already tried to hard reset it by pushing the RESET & CLEAR-Buttons, but that didn't work...

I want to update the switch and can't login.

Hello Alex,

It should work with a hard reset... Try pushing the clearbutton for 10 sec. That is the usual way to clear all passwords.

Could be that the reset and/or clearbutton are broken.
Did all the leds come on when you did a hard reset? Does the switch reboot when you push the resebutton? If not then call support for an exchange.

thanks for your tips.
But i tried them, too. It didn't work.
The buttons are alright, because after pressing RESET the systems reboots.

Anymore ideas?

If i somehow find a solution, i'll post it.

Hi Alex !

It is required only to depress CLEAR button for at least 1 second to remove operator and manager passwords.

If you like to perform reset to factory default configuration simultanuously depress RESET & CLEAR buttons and CONTINUE to press CLEAR button while releasing RESET button.
After the Self Test LED begins to flash, release the CLEAR button.
