  • 1.  Show Redundancy Details with Failover Logs

    Hi Experts,

I would like to ask for your help on how we will troubleshoot an issue on stacked switches. The client has 2 5406 core switches and they were in stack. Recently, the client executed show redundancy details and found out the the standby core switch was not a member already and has a failover logs with the reason of standby reset. What could be the reason why this happened and how can we fix this?
Thank you and I hope someone could help me.

Hi, it looks like the VSF Member 2 (Standby) disappeared, at least...considering a normal VSF scenario, the output would be quite different...showing the Commander AND the Standby.

Could you summarize with outputs of show logging -r and various show vsf (detail, link, member, topology, etc.)?

Is the VSF Member 2 currently powered off or disconnected by the VSF?

    Thank you for response @parnassus.
I will share the outputs as soon as the clients give me permission to remote. For the meantime, can you please clarify things for me? Given the reason for the failover which is "Standby reset", it means that only the secondary switch were powered off or something. If this switch came back online, should it be automatically join the vsf? It seems that it remained separated to the commander, do you have guides on how to rejoin a switch to a vsf?

    Thank you so much
